The progress of building information modeling is much like a snowball at the top of a hill. With a little shove and some initial coaxing, the ball begins to roll. As it builds momentum, it grows bigger and rolls faster down the hill. Eventually, it encompasses everything in its path. As BIM picks up speed, we can expect to see more and more information about its benefits (and even some of its shortcomings). But one thing is certain – it’s growing. This month’s first two articles offer a compendium of BIM topics. Deke Smith and the buildingSMART alliance are lobbying to link BIM with the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system. John Jurewicz and Spencer Woodward present a case study of how BIM saved a project from disaster.
Also this month, Gordon Aronson provides a tutorial on how to use ORACLE|Primavera’s Contract Manager to organize meeting agendas. And, Doug Findley delves into the inner workings of P6’s Issues feature.
