Hi,
We have had a request to see if we can allow "user-names" rather than our current, rather impersonal PPid numbers.
This would mean that users would be allowed to choose a "name" rather than a "number" (10 characters or so?)
Does anyone have any opinions?
We have not thought through how this may affect the operation of certain site scripts. It seems we would simply need to show the usernames rather than the number?

Oldest first- 0Bernard Ertl ·Are not user names displayed with all posts and locations where the PPid # is displayed?
Was there a reason supplied with the request? It is only used for logins, is it not? I personally dont care one way or the other, but if there are issues that could affect the stability of the PP site, I would suggest that there should be a good reason for entertaining the prospect.

This should please a fair number of the guys who cant remember their PPid. This is a good thing as the PPids are yet another thing to have to remember on the web.
