I am trying to share one of my projects on a web portal. Is there anything stopping people changing or copying the plan either by mistake or intention. I have a read-only on the plan, but people can save and re-name, pdfs are ok, but I want people to update the plan to indicate progress.I also have a choice of views which I want people to use, and so I would like the options to be flexible. I am using 2003

the only possible way is by using MS Project Server; the people involved in your project would enter their actuals in Project Web Access (the Web interface of MS P Server) timesheets.
you cannot protect the project baseline on one hand and let the current unprotected.
