I an a OPP operator and have been forced to use MSP (yucky poo). One feature I don’t like in MSP is the way it handles out-of-sequence (OOS) activity when the OOS activity becomes 100%.
Example: 3 activities ’A’, ’B’ & ’C’ in a chain. ’A’ is running extremely late so ’B’ is started early. ’C’ is delayed by the sum of the remaining durations of both ’A’ and ’B’ (poor logic but correct result). Now ’B’ is progressed to 100% complete, in other tools (OPP) ’C’ would still be delayed by the remaining duration of ’A’ but in MSP, so long as ’B’ is complete, ’C’ is no longer affected by ’A’ continued slip.
Is there a default setting I can use to enforce the entire logical history to be taken into account or am I going to have to write a business rule and design a report ot capture these?
