Dear All,

Good Day, I sent this message because I know that lot of Planners out there can help me. I tried to install P6 in my computer (Windows XP & VISTA) however, I did not made it. In my Computer I have installed P5 before and I uninstalled it prior to installation of P6. I deleted the Microsoft SQL Server Folder from Program Files and I installed P6.

However, the problem showed on the Screen that "A MICROSOFT SQL SERVER with a PRIMAVERA INSTANCE already EXISTS on this MACHINE. CONTINUING will UPGRADE it to SQL SERVER 2005" I tried to select "OK" but unfortunately when the installation reaches "SQL Server Database Services" it STOP and there is a message on the screen "SQL SERVER SETUP CANNOT PERFORM THE UPGRADE because the COMPONENT is NOT INSTALLED on the COMPUTER"

I tried to installed P6 in my Friend’s Computer (Windows XP & VISTA) without P5 installed before and it is SUCCESSFUL.

My question is, where can I find this MICROSOFT SQL SERVER with a PRIMAVERA INSTANCE in my computer wherein, thousands of Folders and Files stored in my computer? Or is there other way of installing P6? Please help...Thank you..

Regards,

Arnold

    Hi Arnold
The uninstall of MS-SQL server doesn’t work properly. In the registry you’ll still find some entries. Remove them and the installation will work.
Your local dealer should know this.
    Bonne chance!

    Arnold,   When you

    Arnold,

When you un-installed P6, this did not automatically un-install MSDE (the SQL server).  MSDE is a separate program that must be un-installed separately.  When you randomly deleted one of the MSDE folders you, in effect, cursed your computer.  Now you have the registry full of MSDE entries and a lot of MSDE files scattered throughout your computer without any method of removing them in an automated manner.

Manual deletion of these entries & files is possible, but only by an expert in Windows and MSDE.  The clear choice left to you is to back-up everything and then re-install Windows, formatting the entire harddisk in the process.  Then you will have to re-install all of your programs and then restore the data.  While this is a lot of work, I am very sure that this drastic course of action will achieve your goal quicker than manual hacking.

It is not a good practice to go around directly deleting files and folders if you do not know exactly what you are doing.   By the way, get rid of the VISTA operating system in lieu of Windows 7 and watch out that you are not exceeding your allowed number of P6 licenses with all of these installations.    Good luck!
