Calendar assignment

Folks, I need help on this.

I have duration type set to fixed duration and units, but when i reassign calendar for a task, it changes the original duration of the task. why is this happening? any ideas?

    go to projects directory (big

    go to projects directory (big button on left)

    make sure that you are have your project highlighted

    then view show on bottom Project Details

    now look at the calculations tab

    then make sure the RESET ORIGINAL DURATION and UNITS to REMAINING button is checked.  

    now click on the Resources tab

    make sure that the DRIVE ACTIVITY BY DEFAULT selection is unchecked in the Assignment Defaults section
