activity name is Foundation, OD 10 days. ( cal 6D/week)
Resource , 1 Execavator Nonlabour.
2. Execavator Operator (labour)
3. Roller Operator (labour)
4. Roller (nonlabour)
first 5 days for excavation, and last five days for Rolling,

i assing 100 units per resourece to avtivity all resource are over alocating,

Means in Res Sparesheet shows 12hr/d and Execavator working 14 Hr/d for 2 days.

Please advise me how i can assign these resource to activity avoid the resource over allocating.

How many units i have to allot for each resource so Res must work 10 hr/d only and work muct finished with in 10 days,

    Shazia,
The best approach is to split your activity and assign resource to have a correct distribution. Resource should have 6 day calendar and hour per time period should be define as 10/d same as Global default calendar. See sample below:

    Sir

In my case SpredSheet Shows 13 Hr for each,

execavation start on 02,sep-10 and finished 6sep-10 at 6 pm

Rolling start on 07 Sep-10 and Finishing 10Sep-10 at 6 Pm

OD is 5 dasy for borh,

Error in Rolling finished date ,

resource working hr, is 13/d (showing in SpdSheet)

I have set resource Max /time 10/d with 6 days Global Cal.

    each Res.units are 50 ,

    for Operator 50 units
    execavator 50 units
    for same Rolling.

Please advise me where i am making mistake,

    Thanks & Regards

    Shazia,
Can you check your calendar because 07 Sep-10 and Finishing 10Sep-10 at 6 Pm is only 4 days which gave a result of 12.5 hrs per day. Also check Hours per time period (Edit-> Users Preferences-> Time Units tab-> Hours per time Period should be 10/d, 60/w etc...) I suspect that its default to 8/d.

In my cal time Periods is

    Hr/day 8 Hr/week 40 Hr / Month 172 Hr/years 2000

    while i change it Hr/d 10 Hr/M 260

Then execavation Start 02 sep and finished on 07-sep.
and rooling start 08 sep-10 and finished on 13-sep-10

    with 5 days Duration.

Please advise me how i can set my cal and units Periods for 6days cal and 5d cal.

    Hi Shazia,
Good work! For activity working 5 days assign 5 day calendar and for activity working 6 days assign 6 day calendar. Retain the Hours per time period with 10/d, 60/w, 260/m and 3120/y. Your activity duration should be calculated using calendar day and the working period is as defined in hours per time periods.

Note: Because you change the Hours per time period, you have to check your resources also and make sure the default is 10/d and max unit/time = 10/d. It will automatically adjust as 12.5 if previously defaulted to 8/d.

    Best Regards,
    Rodel

    Shazia,
Change the Timescale to Year/month or month/week. That should smooth the S-curve.

    Dear Sir
    Thanks for your reply.

I have Physical % complete Type activity,

What are the in put need to update this activity.

I have tick the start date of activity and Physical % value, (activity is not 100% complete.)

I heard that while % complete type is Physical.

Then we have to must manually enter Phy.Progress value, remaining Duration and Actual Units .

what is the correct method to update PHY. % Complete Type (activity)

    Thanks & reghards.

    Shazia,
That is correct, using Physical % Complete type all inputs are manual and independent which reflects the correct project status.

    Sir.

How to calculate remaining Duration ,

od-rd/od*100 is this correct for Cal. RD.

    Thanks & Regards

    Shazia,
Remaining duration normally calculation OD-AD = RD but more often it does not feasible especially if the activity is delay. The best way is to ask the supervisor on how long for them to complete the remaining task. Sometimes remaining durations will take longer than the original duration due to resource constrain or waiting for other dependencies. If the activity is on track you can use the default original duration – actual duration = remaining duration or you can use a current productivity to estimate the remaining duration.

    Ex: 100SQM plastering = 5 days = 20SQM/day
    Actual = 3 day = 55SQM = 18.33SQM/day
    Remaining = (100SQM – 55SQM) / 18.33SQM/day = 2.5 days

    Dear Sir.

    A new problem Arise.

    i have update schedule ,

    Activity Budegeted Cost has Removed.

I not able to see Budegeted cost which a had assign to the Resource.

even Activity 100% completed cost has removed.

those activity under Proggress say 65% 70% 97% completed

    Shazia,
Your resource assigned has no Price/Unit and cost is manually entered. If you want to enter cost manually and don’t want to use resource Price/unit you need to remove mark or tick on calculate costs from unit. (Activity Window-> Resource tab-> Right click then select customize resources column and under general select calculate cost from unit) Once calculate cost from unit column is shown remove the tick.
You also need to change the setting on Project Window-> Calculation tab-> Resource Assignment then remove mark or tick from Recalculate Actual units and Cost when duration % complete change.

Phy Prog.100 but in Schedule % Complete Column its Showing 88.9 % Complete .

at the Project 0 level Schedule % Complete Showing 98.8% Complete but Performace Complete Column showing 100%.

i want Scedule % Complete Col.Rolled up and show the 100% complete.

    Shazia,
Schedule % complete is calculated on Baseline Planned dates. It means that you are ahead of schedule and planned finished date is above the data date. If you want Schedule % complete = 100% complete, edit the planned finish date and change it below data date.
