I am trying to carry out a hook time analysis on a insitu concrete frame. We are trying to establish which subcontractor is more realistic, one is saying 3 cranes the other four. Has anyone got a worked example of a similar exercise?

Many Regards

Andrew

    Hi Andrew

This topic is part of module 9 in the Advanced Planning set in Planning Acaemy tuition modules.

The following sections are the basic formulas for a 4 story concrete frame with brick cladding.

DO NOT USE these examples for your project - do your own research into the variables.

The calculations need a programme resource on your barchart called hooks which is applied to all tasks that need crane use - don't forget the formwork tables which all need hook time.

    Part 1 Crane Capacity:

    Luffing Crane
Typical Capacity for a Small Crane

    Max Load 5 tonne
    Min Load 1.5 tonne

    Operation Time
    Sling Up 5 mins
    Hoist 4 mins up
    Discharge 3 mins
    Hoist 2 mins down
    Cycle 14 mins
    Hoist per Hr 4
    Work hrs per day 6
    Hooks per day 24

    Part 3 Hook Numbers

Code Material Type Volume   Container Capacity Hooks Programme Tasks Hooks per Use Work Days Hooks Per day
    1 Concrete in Columns 110 m3 Skip 0.8 138 5 28 1 28
    2 Concrete in Slabs 522 m3 Skip 0.8 653 5 131 1 131 <<<< Pump
    3 Rebar in Columns 14 tonne Sling 1.2 12 5 3 3 1
    4 Rebar in Slabs 69 tonne Sling 1.2 58 5 12 3 4
    5 Table Forms 75 unit unit 1 75 8 10 3 4
    6 External Brick m2 42750 nr pallettes 624 69 9 8 8 1
    7 Internal Block 2640 nr palletes 80 33 7 5 8 1
    8 Roof Plant 5 units unit 1 5 1 5 5 1
    9 Internal Heavy 30 units unit 1 30 4 8 2 4

This requires 1 luffing jib crane use a factor for more than one crane to adjust the hooks per hour ratio per day.

    Hi DerrickThis is my own

    Hi Derrick

This is my own formula which is used in conjunction with Asta PowerProject.

Once you have researched the variables for the specified crane then the result is used as a resource added to tasks requiring crane use.

The Histogram will need to be levelled when the total hooks per day is known.
