Considering Primavera Contractor

Greetings,

I have long used MS-Project with lots of suffering and frustration. I am considering to purchase Primavera Contractor.

My needs are not so sophisticated but I would like to have answers to the following questions:

1. Is it possible to group resources according to a certain hierarchy? e.g. if Jack and Jill are working in Department A which is a part of Division B can I report resource costs on individual, departmental and divisional level (up to howmany levels?)

2. Is it possible that when a task finishes in October and payment is made in November that I can register the payment in November without necessarily extending the duration of the task?

3. Can I register each invoice separately or do I have to sum up all expenses into one single cost for each task/resource/assignment?

4. Is it possible to report all resource work/cost for all tasks belonging to a summary task without having to list all the sub tasks? e.g. if summary task A has subtask x, subtask y and subtask z; Paul is working 6 hours for subtask x and 4 hours for subtask y; Peter is working 3 hours for subtask y and 5 hours for subtask z and John is working 3 hours for each of subtasks x,y,z. Can I report

SummaryTask A
Paul 10 hours
Peter 8 hours
John 9 hours

I manage this in MS-PJ via a recurrent subroutine in VB.

5. Is it possible to program Primavera Contractor by VB or some other language?

Sorry for the long mail and thanks for replies.
Kamil

When looking at new software, find out the limitations, contractor can probably do all you want, except it has limitations, one user, one project, and 750 activities, if you are satisfied with that, go for it.

    Thanks Philip,

I will receive a copy of it from the supplier on a trial basis. I think this was very good service from Primavera.

No Problem, just remember the limitation problem
