Primavera Operator Job Opportunities?

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can give me some help here.

To sum it up, I am thinking about packing my current job working with computers in after some advice from an engineer friend of mine. He was telling me about the job opportunities at the moment working with Primavera, and how there is high demand but not enough people with the right skills to meet the demand.

Now, this is my dilema. I don’t have any engineering qualifications, and I’m not a planner, but he told me that there are plenty of jobs around at the moment where a background in planning isn’t essential, and they are taking on people just to literally operate the software. Bearing in mind, if this is the case, I would have to go on a £1k course and pack in my job, then what is the likelihood of getting employment just as a Primavera operator? Is this possible? It will be a big decision so any advice/help etc would be very greatly received.

Thanks for your time.

I guess we all started somewhere along the line in the Primavera Planning world. Because planning is not really a subject "in the early days" and take me for example I am not an engineer, I dont even have any training when I started. All these depends on your personanity and fade.

With the demand so high for planner, I guess if you will have better luck and you might able to find something. However, you wont be just an software operator, you will need to go down to site, learn the sequency of work, level of effort, critical path... because I would not hire someone come as a computer operator. I expect a bit more, so be prepare.

    Good Luck
