Hello everyone:
We are using P5 for all our schedules here at the university.
However for earned value, we are being told that P3 is much better suited to cost and manhour loading due to certain calulating capabilities.
Question 1:
Do you think P5/P6 can do the things required to generate accurate earned value graphs in excel or directly in P5/p6.
Question 2:
If you have websites/resources for great spreadsheets/charts/or generally tackling the earned value issue, we would love to see those ideas.
Projects are new construction or remodel of projects between $5M US and $100M US, typically 1-2 years, and we take the contractors schedule and modify as required to get the earned value we need.
This has been complicated because sometimes we get suretrak files, which have to be converted.
It’s also been hell trying to get contactors to provide fully cost and manhour loaded schedules so we don’t have to make so many assumptions (converting dollars to manhours, etc.) (the requirement is in the specs, but has been a challenge to enforce).
Thanks for your time.
