Job Details by Email ?

When a new member jons the team and they specify that they wish to receive details of new jobs by email. Prior to us taking them to the email alert configuration page, should we send them Instant or Daily Summary email alerts ?
Does anyone have an opinion ?
Perhaps we should ask them to configure the alerts on initial log-in, or perhaps on sign-up ?
