Manhrs Loading In P6

Hi Guys
I am trying to resource load the activites with Manhrs ,but I dont want to change the original duration when i do that.I just want to show the Proejct manager that the planned duration for this activity is x and whatever the manhrs the estimator has estimated is y.How do i do that.
The problem now I am facing is for an activity which has 10 days duration primavera assumes 80 budgeted units when i said budgeted units per time is 8/d.if i increase the budgeted units the duration changes..
