I would be intersted to hear from anyone on how these two packages compare.

Is PP V11 up to managing large Programs?

    Hi Barney

Apart from the fact that you do not need a university degree in IT studies to install the software:

Yes Asta PowerProject can accomodate very large programmes.

One I worked on recently had 93,000 tasks and a full reschedule took less than 3 seconds - there was much more capacity available.

Asta may be able to tell you if there is a limit but I haven’t found it yet.

Regarding V11 I have been running it for about 3 weeks now and it is a very big step forward for user friendly interface - particularly when switching between project views.

    Best regards

    Hi Mike,

That is very good to hear. I do remember, years ago (probably 15 actually) I had a problem with a 2000 activity programme in PP that kept falling over. At the time Asta told me that there was no limit!

I am talking about a Program of about 200 projects, each with about 250 activities. We will never get to 93,000 activities so I feel safe. However each project will contain cost and resource data and will have a lot of coding.

Can you tell me how big the file size for your 93,000 activity programme was?

    Best wishes,
