P6 Resource allocation

Hello,

I have an enquiry.

Below the situation:

My setting:
Activity Tpe; Resource dependent
Duration Type: Fixed time and fixed unit
Resource Shift:1st 8hrs (0800-1500), 2nd 5hrs (1500-2000)
Resource rates: 1st $20/hr, 2nd $40/h
Resource: Welder

My budgeted manhours is 130 manhrs, which is 10 days duration.Budgeted unit/time =13/hr.

I would expect the labour cost to be 10*20*8 + 10*40*5 = $3600

But Primavera gives me this instead 10*(40+20)/2*13 = $3900

Is this appropiate? Or is there anything wrong with my setting or my understanding of the allocation.

Kindly advice.

Regards
Lucas

    Hi Lucas,

For above requirement, you have to create two record in the Resources dictionary for Resource: Welder, Ex:

    Welder: Shift1, effective date xxxxx max unit/time 8h/d, default unit/time 8h/d, price $40.

    Welder 2: Shift2, effective date same as above, max unit/time 5h/d, default unit/time 5h/d, price $20.

Add both record into which activity you want him to work on.

That is what best resolve your issue.

    Thank Duy Huynh,

That’s what I did to rectify the situation.

But I still do not understand why Primvera interpret differently.

It means that if the second shift duration is 8 hours and the work begins at its start then after 5 hours it will stop and wait for the next shift.
    Is it true?
When the schedule is developing it is not known when activities will start and finish.
