P6 V8.2 conversion to P6 V6.1

Hello friends,
I have got a .xer file format in P6 V8.2, unfortunately i am working only in P6 V6.1.
Since its a lower version i cannot import the V8.2 .xer file.
Is there any possible way to convert V8.2 .xer file into V6.1 .xer file.
Please guide me.

Open the XER in Note Pad and
Open the XER in Note Pad and change the Version Number inthe first line:
