Reduce the Activity Duration (P6 7.0)

Hello Guys

As simple as this question may seem I’m new to Primavera P6.

I’m trying to add resources to an activity, to reduce the activity duration. For example, it takes 1 man 10 days to build a wall, however if I add another man to the activity (2 men) it would take only 5 days to build the wall.

The problem I’m incurring is that my activity duration is not reducing. I guess it a setting that needs to be changed, so could you kindly please advise where I’m going wrong.

    Yes the Activity Type is: Resource Dependent and the Duration Type is: Fixed Units

    Hello Juan,Go to Edit, User

    Hello Juan,

    Go to Edit, User Preferences, Calculations,

    Select the "Recalculate the Units, Duration and Units/Time ..." instead of "Preserve the Units ..."

    if the duration type is Fixed Units, you will see that the original amount of units is spliited between the 1st and additional resources and therefore the activity duration will be shorter than originaly
