Pluses and Minuses for upgrading from 7.0 sp4 to 8.?

I've been happy with what I can do in P6 stand-alone version 7 professional....

What am I missing?

Can I upgrade and stay stand-alone?

Why should I abandon what I've got now?

I'm just trying to get a user's view of where I go next.... or don't go next...
