How to upload a set of Activity Codes?

Hi All,

 

I have created some Activity Codes to be assigned for accounting purposes. The first stage was easy as there were only 8 groups and maybe 5 or 6 codes within each group.

Sample: Code Value Description

2 Tailings/BPF Area
  2.1 C-12394-01-02-05-07
  2.2 C-12394-01-02-05-06
  2.3 C-12394-01-02-04-04
  2.4 C-12394-01-02-05-07
  2.5 C-12394-01-02-05-07
  2.6 C-12394-01-02-06-03
  2.7 C-12394-01-02-04-06
 
but now the request is to expand the listing and groupings to an additional level as below:
2 2Tailings/BPF Area
2.1C-12394-01-02-05-062.1Bulk Earthworks BPF area
2.1C-12394-01-02-05-062.1.1Bulk excavation of BPF pad & roads areas to subgrade - spoil to material to Water treatment plant area (Subject to remeasure against actual)
2.1C-12394-01-02-05-062.1.2Excavate and trim Drain A
2.1C-12394-01-02-05-062.1.3Excavate and trim Drain B
2.1C-12394-01-02-05-062.1.4Supply, Place, Compact and trim pavement to BPF Pad & roads

How can I upload the codes spreadsheet?

    There are two options that

    There are two options that you can use.

    1) Option 1 - Using SDK (excel) - you can import/ upload Global, EPS or Project if you have SDK setup on your machine.

    2) Option 2 - Using XER Builder/ parser - You need to have a deep knowledge on P6 database to do this. You can build your Activity codes library Global, EPS or Project by creating XER with Activity Codes library

    Yes, I was thinking about SDK last night. I have created an odbc to my dB but haven't yet explored the connection any further than running some basic queries.

    Xer parser has been difficult to run, I think I had to go back to excel v10 or something but I do have the codes already in Excel.

    Excellent ideas, thanks mate, I'll let you know how I go.

    sdk is no longer supported I

    sdk is no longer supported I use Ranga whihc is an excel add in you can build activity code dictionaries as well was a wbs

    yes this can do a whole lot

    yes this can do a whole lot such as creating WBS, activity code dictionary, adding resources , printing calendars etc
