    HI gopi,   you will Recover

    HI gopi,

you will Recover the things which are not done in scheduled Duration/ time.

where as you will accelerate the works as per the latest requirements ahead of Scheduled Duration or time

    I have seen contracts with

I have seen contracts with specific definitions of these terms, so check your contract, but in general:

-A recovery programme will  be one designed to bring a late-running project back on target at zero additional cost to the client

-An acceleration programme will be one designed to bring the completion date earlier at cost to the client

The method for creating both is basically the same:

    1) Check you current programme for accuracy

    2) Take a copy of current programme

    3) Look for ways to reduce the duration of your critical path. These will typically be of three types:

    a) Reduce durations of subcontractor / vendor activities through expediting (often an ongoing process with limited success, but worth doing as it's cheaper than the other two)

    b) Reduce durations of activities by increasing resources/cost (eg add an extra gang / shift, weekend working, additional plant)

    c) Ammend logic so critical activities can be done in parallel by increasing risk (eg M&E procurement before design is finalised)

    4) Each time you make a change, re-analyse your critical path as it may have changed and repeat until desired completion date is met or you exhaust all opportunities.

    5) Compile a report detailing the changes you have made and the consequences in terms of additional cost & risk and submit to PM / client along with a copy of revised programme.
