DBF export fails

hello everybody,
I’ve got a problem on some on my computers P3 is installed on.
I try to export data to a DBF file (a tabular report) and the DBF file content is all messed up (looks like the data is organized stairslike o_O), and not at all like on another computer where the export is fine.
does anybody have an idea of what the problem might be ?
