Progress Scheduling

TFI Friday Everybody- the sun is shining here in London which is not often in February!

Down to business- I am updating progress on my project and I can’t understand why after ticking an activity as started and 5 days progress has been made-(therefore reducing remaining duration)that after rescheduling the activity it does not move to the data date.

The particular activity in question is of 100 days duration and we have started it two months early from the target plan. I have set remaining duration to 95 but when I re-schedule it hangs back from the data date with an as built blue line to the remaining duration as per target. This is bloody annoying because it is showing dependant activities late when in fact we are two months ahead. I have checked usual suspects ie constraints, predecessors, sucessors etc but can’t understand why it is hanging back suspended in time.

Please help guys it will make my weekend!!

Enjoy your weekend planning planet friends.

Cheers,
Mark

Try re-scheduling the project using the Progress Override option. If the remaining work bar “corrects” itself, then you have uncompleted work logically preceding the task. This uncompleted work does not need to be immediately preceding, it might be several activities separate from the activity in question.

If your experiment did not “solve” the problem, then I suggest that you investigate the calendar used to see if the days skipped are holidays. Good luck!
