P3 is a very powerfull tool and one of its features is that it can be used over a network, or that is what is being told by the manual . yet installing P3 over the network for multi user stations on site or in PCD might be challenging thus asking assistance is the best reasort.
i still can’t figure out how to use P3 on different work stations in different locations. hopefully many users can use the P3 prject to update the activities fast and effecient. can any one direct me on the means to perform such utility?

we use P3.1 in a network setting. I couldn’t tell you how to set it up though, we have IT bods for that.

    Things to note though;

    - Big schedules (’0000s activities) run very slowly on network drives. We eventually arranged a dedicated server
    - Without a certain amount of user discipline you can run into trouble with corrupted data

tbh during execution (while making daily updates) we ended up working separately in our subprojects on local drives (much faster and doesn’t threaten the stability of opther users’ work) then restoring the subproject to the main project after updating.

    Dear Wael,

    > Run Set Up from P3 CD in server. when it asks for installation type pick server/network installation. Follow the directions when it is asked for.
    > with this P3 is installed in the server but u cannot see it in programs.

    > In the server share the P3WIN folder made while installation
    > Make a new folder for the Primavera files
    > In workstations, map the P3WIN (Say "X") & the new folder on server
    > from workstation, run the setup file X\P3WIN\PROGS\setup
    > While installing, setup asks for 4 folder names.
    Make 1st one = X:\P3WIN
    Make 2nd one = X:\P3WORK

    Make 3rd one = C:\....."defalt"
    Make 4th one = C:\....."defalt"

That is it this will setup the workstation to communicate with the server..

Hope this will work for u.
