Does anyone have specific experience of these types of plants. My question is, when an Ammonia/Urea plant is specified as say, Ammonia 1000mtpd, Urea 2000mtpd, what does this mean exactly? Does it mean that it can produce both Ammonia and Urea at these volumes, or does it mean that it uses all Ammonia to produce the Urea, or a combination of the two? Any help gratefully accepted.

based on the oil refinery terminology, if we say refinery capacity of 100,000 BPSD, it means that the refinery is designed to process 100,000 barrel per stream day of crude oil. the product could be petrol, diesel, kero, LPG, etc. & not necessarily 100,000 BPSD each.

Thank you for your response. The actual answer from industry sources is that it takes .58 t of ammonia to produce 1t of Urea and hence the calculation of production and excess ammonia can be made. Please now close this thread.
