Hy everybody,
can someone explain how tools> "summarize" works (or what its good for), how this is related to the "settings" tab in the project details and where I can finally see the effects. I still couldnt find the reasonable usage for this function.

Oldest first- 0Ian Nicholson ·Summarize Data allows you to see data about closed projects. If you look in the projects window, for a field like At Completion Total Cost, you will see a different result when the project is open or closed.
Summarizing a project stores a number of project (and WBS)level fields with live data from the project. Once summarization is complete, the two values are aligned.
This is so that cross project rollups can be done without opening all the projects in the database at the same time. It is also useful when you want to publish information periodically (such as after a schedule update).
