I am starting a new job in the rail sector in the UK and was wondering if anyone had any example programmes which i can look at to get familiar to terminology used etc

    terms you have 

    clearning & grubbing 

    excavation 

    sub ballest

    if its tird rail this is where your power comes from if not you have overhead Catenary trackion power

    wayside equipment 

    substations 

    signals 

    thats about it
