What's wrong with a hard constraint if used properly?

Hello,

Why should I not use hard constraints in my construction schedule - can't I justify to the client that it is allowed to the contract end date. I thought it would give me a critical path and show it negative float if we start to slip (which we have)?

I thought that was permissible in some cases.

Thanks G.
