Dears ,
After incorporating MEP programs in given civil program of works ...we reached to certain project completion date .
Later on due to some reasons we tried to pull back proj.comp.date .......to do this we started crashing the critical path ..by reducing the duration of activity ...when the duration is changed ....proj.comp.date moved ahead rather falling earlirer.
The program file contains variety of relationship like FS,SS & FF .

If some one ,also have observed the same .....please clarify the reasons
Thanks

One idea; if you have any negative lags in your plan and you have crashed the critical path activities by changing them to a double shift (for example) then the overall length of the negative lag could shorten also because the calender on which the negative lag is calculated can change, following it’s parent activity.

I mean to say ..that we have reduced the duration of the first activity on critical path ..n yet we have noticed that proj .Comp. date is pushed forward.

    Hope to see reply ..acoordingly

yes, I did understand what you had done, at least ni general.

What I was suggesting was that if you have reduced the duration by way of placing the activity on a different calender then the calender change can effect lags aswell.

If you adjusted the duration by changing the actual entry in the Original and Remaining Duration fields, then lags should not be effected.

Otherwise, could you have changed a calender by accident?

SOP is to follow the path of zero lag back through the plan from completion back to your current DD, you will probably find that a constraint has been set or calender changed, or even a duration shanged by accident. If he plan is well structured this shouldn’t be *too* hard.

Sorry if I can’t be more help but the devil is almost always in the detail and so you need to sift through it.
