    Good answer Clive.

But surely it should only be about job satisfaction?

And you get the most satisfaction from having the most money in your pocket!

    Quod Erat Demonstrandum

    Clive is right

    Is sarcasm a British thing?

    Hi Oliver,

Job satisfaction is lovely, but it won’t pay your mortgage. When I was doing my post grad work a long time ago, I was reading some research by Bridwell and Wahba (real names honest) and they concluded that "work is no longer the central life interest of most people."

What their research boiled down to was that people will take a job that gives them a large pay packet, rather than satisfaction, as they can get their satisfaction away from the workplace. So for many people Clive has hit the nail right on the head.

    Chris,

I totally agree. The smiley face on my post about job satisfaction was an attempt at sarcasm.

I thought maybe Nieman missed it because sarcasm is a British thing, but i guess not!

    Sorry

I thought we were all contributing to the forum in a spirit of brotherly love and helping to push planning forwad as the preeminent profession, not making sarcastic comments to each other.

Either that or it went straight over my head Oliver - you’re too subtle for me.

On that note Nieman what can we do to push planning forwad as the preeminent profession?

Honestly though, who are the top three claims consultancies to work for in the UK?

I am amazed Chris, that you as a specialist in recruitment to the claims/forensic enviroment do not know the answer to your own question - or perhaps you are just not very good at your job?

Maybe you could enlighten us... who are the top three?

David, thanks for your kind response and comment that I don’t know my own job.
I appreciate your valued input and thank you for taking the time to post a reply.

    Hi David,

Like you, I’m waiting for the answer with bated breath, all we have to wonder now is whether it was Ian Cowx who posted that or whether it was Chris Austin posing as Ian Cowx.

How come the question was from Chris Austin, but answered by Ian Cowx?

    Oliver/Chris...

I am sure even I spotted Ian’s sarcasm!

To clarify for those who are interested. Chris set the thread up using my login and therefore I get some of the replies. I am Ian by the way.
Looks to be getting a bit heated in here so I’m off. Bye all !

    David Bordoli ·
Stranger and stranger... I tried to find Ian’s details in the members profile but he seems not to exist... or am I doing somethinmg wrong?

    Chris Oggham ·
Believe it or not guys it wasn’t Ian!!!!

I had a similar problem with Chris Austin with a Private Message, it ostensibly came from Ian Cowx but was signed Chris Austin. When I messaged Ian Cowx I got the following reply:

Sorry Chris, myself and Chris Austin work together and I let him use my login details to place a job ad. It would appear he didnt log back in as himself before sending you the message.
I have asked Chris to contact you directly.

    Ian.

So possibly with some accuracy it could be said that Chris Austin is a bit careless and Ian Cowx is a bit too trusting. Are these desirable charactaristics for people who want you to trust them with your career?

Crumbs this is moving so fast I’m having trouble keeping up!

    David,

Try doing a member search on Gold Group with All Words set as the search criteria, you’ll be surprised who you come up with.

    So Ian/Chris

Who are the top three or do you prefer to pick everyones brains and not add your knowlege to the forum - obviously I was mistaken, you are excellent at your job and your integrity is helping you to make friends with planners with every posting!

Split personalities, cloak and daggers plots, stories of betrayel...... this planning planet is getting serious.

    Oliver,

I can only agree, it sounds like one of the more unlikely scenarios from Necroplanicus.

Recruiters in UK. Are they all like this? Dishonest, hiding, claiming to be/have different personalities ..?

    Oliver Melling ·
    All i know Dieter is that on the RecruitmentPlanet website, you don’t get planners asking recruitment consultants if they can;

    plan their loft conversion

    do resource profiles on their weekly shopping trips or;

tell you who the top three recruitment consultants are in the UK.

    Good question Dieter.

If Chris Austin is not going to answer that (to share his knowledge) maybe Oliver Jones could help us?

According to the CJ2 this morning, the top three are Pinsent Mason, Bwerwin Leighton Paisner and Fenwick Elliott. But then again that is relying on someone else’s information not doing my own research.

    Thanks Nieman...

I haven’t seen the article yet but I guess they are refering to legal practices in the UK in respect of their construction workload.

As for your other comment, reading others published work is research; asking someone to give you the answere without trying to find out yourself is just pain lazy.

By the way, the top UK claims/forensic consultancy is, in my very humble opinion, Driver Consult Ltd.

    Sorry David

just trying to divert our friends at Gold Group into actually doing something instead of getting us to do it for them.

Of course Driver are the best, why would you work for them else?

The there is Knowles and Brewer and Trett and .......there are hundreds of small consultancies with good people - ask Andrew, I’m sure he has his own opinions based on his experiences - the best in terms of what? How much they charge, how good their people are at resolving disputes, how long they take - do they stay for ever making ridiculous amounts of money for themselves - any number of different ways of calculating the top three!

I suspect the question was based around ’Am I contacting the consultancies with the most work and therefore maximising my commission.’

And I don’t see why we should unless there is a cut in it for us.

    Ian Cowx ·
David, I agree entirely with your opinion of Driver Consult being the best, as I am working very closely with them at the moment. Not on Claims side of things (that’s Chris’ area) more on the overseas planners.
And in case you are wondering, I am an actual person that does exist and not an alias of Chris’s !

    Ian.

Ah yes... I now see that Chris has chnaged his job... he in now part of a Recruitment Agency :-)

    To further clarify:

Ian Cowx is not my alias and he has some great jobs in the UAE (Civils and Utilities).

For anyone intersted in any Claims, Delay Analyst or Expert Witness jobs in Australia and the UK I am your contac4.

    Hi Clive,

Which Chris do you mean? If you mean Chris Austin, recruiter in disguise, I’d be grateful if you’d say so, as this guy has teed off a number of people and I’ve been getting blamed for it.

As a response to your earlier question, Hill International acquired both Pickavance Consulting and James R Knowles in 2006.

Hill was a claims consultancy in its own right prior to both these acquistions, although they have obviously swelled the employee numbers in this field hugely.

I suggest we all just ignore Mr Austin’s ridiculous posts - they obviously don’t attempt to add to the sum of planning knowledge, as David says they are from a recruitment consultant not a planner.

    Niemann,

I think that is probably for the best.
