TIA and Tons of other Schedules.

I was asked to prepare TIA for the project that has inheried issues namely non-payment of IPCs, late site possession, various ECNs and plenty of more cr@p.

The problem I am facing is that I have some 7-8 differnet "BL Programme of Works". Some of them I recognise as just monthly updated schedules that has been named as BL Programme now.

One of that programme is "the programme" that was included in the Contract itself and for me is the BL Programme. Now, if I see the others in comparision to BL then I am having difficulty in finding the same activities as were included in Contract Programme.

The more recent Programme(s) layout has been changed, activities changed, durations changed. To summerize its whole lot of mess compounding with the fact that very few documentary evidences available to spport any of the delay events. But we all know that the project has been delayed by 1.5 years now.

I need some expert help to overcome all thes issues and to prepare TIA. I am really frustrated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

    Hi Sajid

Any advice that I can give you on PP will not be sufficiently comprehensive to solve your problems.

You need expert delay analysis advice dedicated to your problem and this will cost money.

Explain to your employer that you will need this assistance.

    Hi Mike

    >>Any advice that I can give you on PP will not be sufficiently comprehensive to solve your problems.
But, I still looking for "ANY" advice. How should I say without knowing that what is required and why we need expert delay analyst.

    >>You need expert delay analysis advice dedicated to your problem and this will cost money.
no money with us for such experts.

    >>Explain to your employer that you will need this assistance.
In view of economic downturn, I opt not to take this advice at this time.

    Hi Sajid

The first question to ask is why use TIA when there are a number of alternative methods that may be more suitable.

And how will you know which is the better alternative?

I am sorry to have to tell you Sajid that you are out of your depth on this task.

Someone may send you a web address for aace which I have read and found it unreadable and misguided.

You may get better response from the SCL protocol which is clearer but out of date now.

In any case you can’tlearn delay analysis from books.

    The answer is Conditionsof Contract

That is THE reason I am on this forum.

Every bit of information is knowledge for me. I need to make an informed decision rather than I say, I CAN’T without knowing the much of the detils.

    >>You may get better response from the SCL protocol which is clearer but out of date now.
I do refer SCL Protocol for quite some time now.

    >>In any case you can’tlearn delay analysis from books.
True, and thats the other reason I am on this forum. I need some hands on knowledge rathe the theory of something.

I hope I may get some more expert opinion on this thread.

    HI Sajid

I have never yet come acros a form of contract that specifies a particular method of delay analysis.

Perhaps yours has a special condition written in.

Everything relies on how good your As Built records are.

Ideally you should be able to demonstrate Who Did What Where and When.

The best fall back position is to know when each activity started and when it finished.

If you do not have that basic information then a Time Impact Analysis is not possible.

I have set out the steps necessary for creating a time impact analysis elsewhere on this thread as have a lot of other contributors.

I suggest as a first step that you search the forum for advice.

    Best regards
