Inserting Projects in Microsoft Project

Right, I have inserted a project from another file into my overall master programme. However when i did this the unique ID down the left hand side has come across as well, so now i have more than one activity assigned to the number 4 for instance. IS there a way of rectifying this, or importing a project without the unique ID?

do you want the inserted project to be a sub-project in the master project and to remain available outside of the master project, or to be a part of the main project?
if you answer "yes" to the 1st point, the unique ID of the sub-project will remain because the sub-project is an individual project too; if you answer "yes" to the 2nd point, uncheck the "Link to project" box in the Insert a project dialogbox.
