Multiple Master Projects (MSP)

Has anybody had experience in a matrixed (functional/project) organisation where an individual schedule may be a subproject of more than one Master Project hierarchies.

For example I may have Functional Master files at Design, Build and Test teams and Project Masters at Proj#1, Proj#2 etc. I would build multiple subprojects at the intersection of these; eg. I would build a schedule to cover the testing in project 2.

I am hoping I can open the Test Master and see the subprojects for each Test-P1, Test-P2 etc and that all data will roll up accordingly. Equally I could open Up Proj#1 master and see P1-Design, P1-Build and P1-Test subprojects.

Your thoughts appreciated?

Paul.

    Paul,
as far as I know, you cannot insert a same project more than once, i.e. one project cannot be a sub- yto more than one master-
you could use hyperlinks between sub-project taks instead

I’ve just tested this and this works. You cannot insert the same project twice but you can have a project inserted to 2 different programmes.

This took about 1 min to test. I hope this helps.

Thanks Guys, I’ve also tested it now and indeed it seems to work. Data (dates, work) etc get rolled up the two separate hierarchies and also logical links flow freely across both dimensions.

I’m going to enjoy exploring this further.

    Paul.
