Has any one had any experience with linking P3e to the intergraph PDS model viewer. I have just started a new project and one of the requirements from the client is to have a graphical % complete report linked to their PDS model. The aim is to give a 3-D graphical report of site erection.

I have heard of this being done with P3 but not P3e.

    Hi,

We have tried such thing long back. But it was P3 (Previous version) and AutoPlant software. The requirement was some what similar. I can help you from primavera side (SDK or API), but i dont know PDS.

Following questions can guide you for starting integration:
    1. Does PDS allow writing VB macros?
    2. Is there any easy way to capture handle (unique id) for object created in PDS? So that you can link handle of PDS object to P3e Activity. After linking these two show activity progress (% complete) on PDS object. Ex. if act percent complete is < 10% and act is critical show object in red color. If activity is between 10-50% then show object in green etc.

Hope this will help you take up the assignment.

I have seen something similar done with Primavera V3.1 and Bentley Viewer and PDS, or some other modelling tool (I can’t remember exact software package)
All I know is that it exists, or they did it manually, usuing basic modular-type building blocks to give a visual representation for the construction sequence.

A confusing post maybe, but at least I confirmed that it can be done ;-)
