Import MS Project file into P6

I tried to import a MS Project file (*.mpp) into Primavera ver 6 but failed. Every time it activated MS Project and a message pomped up "Microsoft Office Project does not support saving projects into ODBC, MPD or MPD or MDB formats. Please save the file in a format that is supported by project."

I don’t know why. I don’t have MS Access on my computer. Is it a reason? Thanks for any help.

    What version of MS Project are you trying to import? P6 is capable on importing from MSProject 2003 below. If using MSProject 2007 version saves it to MSP 2003 first before importing to P6. I tried to install MSProject 2007 and use the import function in P6 but most of the case it fails so I downgraded to MSProject 2003.

    I am not able to import my file from MSP2003 to P6R7.0. 

    The MSP2003 file is 21,000KB.

    But if I import a smaller MSP2003 with 700KB file to P6R7, there are no problems and the import is easy and well done.

    My NoteB. is a Toshiba with j7 processor and 6GB ram memory with Window 7 as operating system.

    Please what can I do to import my MSP2003 to P6R7???
