Every contractor, every planner/scheduler, has his own idea or version of structuring level-3 & level-4 schedules. One contractor may say his is a level-4 but I may call it level-3, a Contract may specify a level-3 schedule but the breakdown of detail of activities demanded by the owner’s Project Management Team is as good as level-4. Contractors or PMTs may even direct its planners/schedulers to create a hybrid level 3.5 Schedule. Now, isn’t that something?
It is long overdue that scheduling levels be STANDARDIZED, or a least a guiding structure & requirements be authored & presented, something in the line of how detailed the breakdown of activities in the schedule should be, the maximum duration of each activity, resource load, etc.
Your opinions please...
