M1.1 Scope & Work Breakdown Structures

By the end of this section, the learner should be able to take an authorised project scope and turn it into a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that can actually be used to control the project. They should be able to explain what belongs in the WBS, what does not, how far to decompose the scope, how to avoid gaps and overlaps, how to define work-package boundaries, and how the WBS becomes the stable scope backbone for schedule, cost, risk, responsibility, progress and change.

  • M6.4 — Assurance & Control Reviews

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to plan and conduct a proportionate review of project-controls data, processes and outputs; test evidence against stated criteria; identify material weaknesses; communicate their consequences; and verify corrective action. They should distinguish…

  • M6.3 — Baseline Change & Configuration Control

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to turn a bounded approval into a verified revision of the affected scope, schedule, budget, progress, risk and configuration records. They should preserve previous baselines, maintain relationships between approved, forecast and as-built information,…

  • M6.2 — Change Control

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to recognise a potential change, record and define it, assess integrated consequences, identify the correct authority, support an approve/reject/defer decision and track implementation to verified closure. They should distinguish a changed requirement…

  • M6.1 — Project Controls Strategy & Governance

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to design and operate a proportionate project-controls strategy: define what decisions the project needs, identify the information and controls that support them, assign ownership and authority, establish an integrated operating cycle, set escalation…

  • M5.5 — Reporting, Insight & Decision Support

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to turn validated project-control evidence into a clear report that enables a named audience to decide or act. They should select the information appropriate to that authority, explain material exceptions and causes, connect current performance to…

  • M5.4 — Integrated Forecasting & Predictive Analysis

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to produce one coherent view of expected project outcomes by reconciling schedule, cost, physical accomplishment, acceptance, commercial exposure and uncertainty. They should identify inconsistent assumptions, distinguish target from forecast, build…

  • M5.3 — Integrated Cost & Schedule Performance

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to connect authorised scope, time-phased budget, evidence of accomplishment and incurred cost at a common cut-off. They should calculate and interpret basic Earned Value Management measures, reconcile them to source records, distinguish cost efficiency…

  • M5.2 — Variance & Trend Analysis

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to establish a valid comparison, calculate period and cumulative variance, analyse a time series, distinguish delivery deterioration from timing or data effects, find causes across discipline boundaries and test whether an intervention improves the…

  • M5.1 — Performance Measures & Indicators

    1. Practical outcomeThe learner should be able to turn a project objective and a management decision into a small, coherent set of performance measures. They should define what each measure means, calculate it from controlled evidence, establish an appropriate reference and response threshold,…
