Reviewing a contractor's monthly P6 update: what do you check first?

Every month the same job: compare this month's XER against last month's, find out why the finish date moved, and write it up for the PM or the client.

My checklist, in order:

  1. Finish-date movement, and which activities drive it

  2. Deleted or changed relationships on the critical and near-critical paths

  3. Durations cut or grown with no basis given

  4. New hard constraints (Mandatory Finish, Finish On or Before) that hide negative float

  5. Activities that slipped but gained float (usually a sign logic was removed)

  6. Out-of-sequence progress and actuals after the data date

  7. Whether the narrative actually explains what the XER shows

What would you add?
