Budgeted Manhours

All,
I’m not sure if this question has been discussed before.

When additional manhours occurs as the project goes on, how do you benchmark it against the budgeted mhrs in the baseline programme? I mean how do you measure the progress as the parameters in both the programme is of different value (baseline vs current updated programme), and it will still change in future.

Thanks

If the additional manhours is a result of an additional scope thru change order or change directives then you treat it separate from the base scope. You can achieved this by making a separate code, in effect having a separate sub-total for your baseline and additional works.

On the other hand, if it is merely an additional manhours as a result of estimated manhours being wrong, then you simply revised your manhour estimates to incorporate the additional manhours.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    Daniel

For industrial plant turnaround maintenance projects, we expect the scope to change - sometimes dramatically. We code and track scope as original and add-on for post-project cost analysis. We track summary (physical) progress as the percent of total manhours complete against a statistical minimum attainment curve for the desired time span.
