M2.5 Schedule Forecasting & Analysis

By the end of this section, the learner should be able to take a credible current schedule and use it to forecast likely future outcomes, explain what is driving those outcomes, test alternative scenarios, assess the effect of uncertainty and management interventions, and recommend action before important dates are lost. They should be able to distinguish an approved baseline, a management target, the current forecast and a what-if scenario; identify the assumptions that make a forecast credible; recognise when apparently precise dates are not supported by the evidence; and communicate both the expected outcome and the conditions that could change it.
